Role Overview
Karisla Healthcare is recruiting an experienced and vision-driven Registered Manager to lead Bannies Place, a residential children's home in Grays, Essex.
As Registered Manager, you will hold overall operational, legal, and managerial responsibility for the home, ensuring exemplary standards of care, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance under the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted framework.
You will lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary residential team, drive continuous quality assurance, manage service budgets, and build strong collaborative partnerships with local authorities, social workers, and health professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Overall operational management and leadership of the residential children's home.
- Providing regular formal supervision, appraisal, and mentoring for team leaders and residential care staff.
- Managing staff recruitment, onboarding, workforce rotas, and training schedules.
- Promoting a strong, positive work culture centered on child welfare, dignity, and professional excellence.
Safeguarding & Care
- Acting as the lead for safeguarding within the home, embedding robust child protection procedures.
- Overseeing individual care planning, risk assessments, positive behavior support strategies, and review meetings.
- Managing planned and emergency admissions, transitions, and discharge planning.
Compliance & Quality
- Ensuring total compliance with Ofsted regulations, Children's Homes Regulations 2015, and Quality Standards.
- Oversight of Regulation 44 independent visits and driving Regulation 45 quality of care reviews.
- Maintaining rigorous quality assurance processes, audit trails, and continuous improvement plans.
Partnerships & Service Development
- Collaborating with local authority commissioning teams, social workers, CAMHS, schools, and families.
- Managing operational budgets, financial controls, and resource allocation within the home.
- Driving ongoing service development to achieve and maintain high Ofsted inspection outcomes.
Person Specification & Requirements
Essential Criteria
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services (or equivalent recognised management qualification, or willingness to work towards it).
- Minimum 2 years' residential childcare experience within the last 5 years.
- At least 1 year of experience working at a senior or managerial level within a children's residential service.
- In-depth knowledge of Ofsted inspection frameworks, Children's Homes Regulations 2015, and statutory safeguarding guidelines.
- Proven leadership, staff supervision, and budgetary management capabilities.
- Demonstrated experience in partnership working with local authorities and multi-agency partners.
Desirable / Advantageous
- BSc in Mental Health Nursing or Learning Disability Nursing (or equivalent clinical registration).
