PERSON SPECIFICATION FOR MANAGERIAL ROLE FOR COMPLEX NEEDS CHILDRENS HOME
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION FOR REGISTERED MANAGER (RM)
BSC –Mental health preferably , learning disability or a Mental health nurse with experience working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.
Qualified social worker (Preferably a Specialty in Children in care / looked after children)
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services; or equivalent; or preparedness to work towards the same.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuing professional development.
EXPERIENCE AND JOB SPECIFICATION
Essential Requirement: Two years of experience working with children in a residential care environment in the last five years and at least one year at senior level.
Management Experience: Proven leadership in managing residential children’s homes, including staff management and service delivery.
Safeguarding Expertise: Extensive knowledge and experience in safeguarding children and young people, ensuring compliance with regulations.
Person-Centered Care Provision: Ability to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to the needs of residents.
Team Leadership: Strong skills in team management, fostering a positive team culture, and promoting professional development.
Partnership Working: Ability to collaborate effectively with external agencies, professionals, and stakeholders.
Quality Assurance: Experience in monitoring and improving the quality of care and support services provided.
Commencement of registration process of Bannies place-As Bannies place is in the process of registering with the Ofsted, the various proficiencies that is required for the thorough and smooth registration process will be allocated to you as the home manager though support will be given all the way.
Crisis Management: Capability to manage emergencies and ensure the safety and well-being of residents.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
Legislation and Regulation: A thorough understanding of relevant legislation and regulations governing residential children’s homes in the UK, including but not limited to The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, the Children Act 1989 and 2004, the Care Standards Act 2000, and associated statutory guidance. Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and inspection processes established by Ofsted.
Child Development and Welfare: Knowledge of child development theories, attachment theory, and the impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) on children’s well-being and development. Understanding the principles of child-centered practice and the importance of promoting positive outcomes for children and young people in care.
Safeguarding and Child Protection: Expertise in safeguarding policies, procedures, and practices aimed at protecting children and young people from harm, abuse, and exploitation. Knowledge of indicators of abuse, reporting mechanisms, and multi-agency safeguarding arrangements for responding to safeguarding concerns.
Care Planning and Assessment: Proficiency in conducting comprehensive assessments of children and young people’s needs and strengths and developing individualised care plans in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. Understanding of key principles in care planning, risk assessment, and care management to promote the holistic well-being of children in care.
Behaviour Management and Therapeutic Interventions: Skills in managing challenging behaviour among children and young people in care, employing positive behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques. Knowledge of therapeutic interventions, counselling approaches, and trauma-informed care practices to support children and young people with complex needs.
Team Leadership and Management: Ability to lead, motivate, and supervise a multidisciplinary team of residential support workers, promoting a positive work culture and fostering staff development and well-being. Knowledge of effective leadership styles, team dynamics, and performance management principles to maximize team effectiveness and service delivery outcomes.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with children, young people, families, staff members, and external stakeholders. Ability to communicate complex information clearly and sensitively and to build trusting relationships based on empathy, respect, and cultural competence.

PERSON SPECIFICATION FOR RESPONSIBLE INDIVIDUAL ROLE FOR COMPLEX NEEDS CHILDRENS HOME
EXPERIENCE AND JOB SPECIFICATION
As a potential Responsible Individual (RI) for our children’s home, you will be responsible for ensuring that the home meets all registration conditions and compliance with pertinent regulations. Responsibilities are as follows:
- Overseeing the management and conveyance of the service to ensure it meets regulatory requirements and standards.
- Liaising with stakeholders and overseeing the guidance ship and leadership of the home.
- Ensuring adequate staffing and resources are in place, and that staff are sufficiently trained.
- Providing supervision to the Registered Manager and driving continuous improvement of the Home.
- Ensuring compliance with the Children’s Homes Quality Standards and supporting the development of leadership and management skills.
- Acting as the point of contact for the home with other multidisciplinary in the community and supervising the management of the regulated home.
